The original EMO book, Oceans of Energy, was written in 2002, when EMO had literally just been introduced and only the original research data and case examples were known.
8 years is a long time in a developing field; and with EMO, as the research and practical data kept coming, and feeding back on other projects, including Project Sanctuary and importantly, Events Psychology, all sorts of changes came in that were not in the book.
There were new language conventions, different helpful techniques from the Creative Template to Heart Healing which were adopted for the practitioner training, and also, much more of an appreciation of what you can do with basic EMO. There was also the experience with the more advanced patterns of EMO from Living Energy and Energy Magic and a whole lot of wisdom of hindsight.
That's a lot of information and to sort it all out in order to decide what to put into the book as well as what to leave out was a huge challenge; it is true that I procrastinated over this since at least 2008 when it was first apparent it should be done.
Now, the new EMO book was on the table yet again - and I thought, "Oh God I can't be asked to explain all of that from the ground up again!"
At which point I thought, hm, this is only an energy. Where do I feel that in my body? Soften and flow ...
Only a few moments later I was chuckling to myself, had called up a brand new document and got started.
Every so often, there was the usual type of, "Oh dear, I can't do this justice, I have to write a book that convinces the world of the importance and validity of EMO ..."
Hey! Silvia! Where do you feel THAT in your body? Oh, you mean that huge pressure on your head, on the base of your neck and on your shoulders? I have a suggestion for you ...
"It's only an energy! Soften and flow!!"
And of course, a little later, tingling and bright aware, there I am happily typing away at the next chapter.
So the book started to take shape, helped along all the way by its own method throughout. Feeling a bit tired today? Don't fret, it's only an energy, soften and flow! Bit worn out by all that typing? Got a bit stiff there? Soften and flow! Don't feel like it? Can't be asked? Soften and flow matey, it's a fascinating thing and a wonderful opportunity to be able to write a new book, tell people about cool things, you are so lucky to have this job!
And indeed, I am. More than lucky. Blessed, actually.
So the book came along beautifully. Then the idea was raised to add an A-Z of EMO applications, to give the readers more of insight as to what you can do with EMO.
"You're joking! I've just written this whole book - and now you want me to do the A-Z as well?! It's too much ..."
Of course, with a bit of EMO, it wasn't. I made the list and then was given additional suggestions, some of which were really tricky, like EMO and NLP. Gee, where would you start with that? Do you have, oh, ten years for me to get into it? I'm supposed to come up with three paragraphs to sum that up?!
"It's only an energy. Soften and flow."
And so it was and the NLP section is cool, short as it is.
Two weeks of solid typing later, and the A-Z was done, finishing on "The X-Factor" which prompted someone close by to comment that it wasn't really an A-Z but an A-X. Fair enough ... Ok, let's call it an alphabetical listing, shall we?
The next "huge barrier" were the illustrations, but by now I had decided that I was doing EMO and only EMO to help me write this book. It did the trick; cracked my long standing conflict with some special software and the illustrations were done as well. EMO was writing and drawing itself into life :-)
Finally, it was suggested the book should be indexed. That's where you go through the whole thing and essentially mark out every interesting and relevant word and phrase someone might like to find in the text at a later date. No problemo. By this time, the softening and flowing was automatic, I didn't have to think about it any longer and the index was done in five short days of about two six hour sessions per day. Easy peasy.
Well, that was fun.
I've just handed over the manuscript, the A-X, the index, the illustrations and I'm feeling really happy, really proud.
It was also really interesting to take this opportunity to "walk the EMO talk" at the same time.
So many of our "reversals" are really only a few energy blockages you can take out so quickly, and as soon as you do, you're really energized and happy to be doing what you do. In the case of a six week project that needed good attention and a good state from me to work correctly, smoothing out the stress disturbances throughout really expedited it and made it into such a happy experience, so easy, so quick, really enjoyable. EMO kept the project on track, all the way; helped me be clear what I wanted to communicate and how and kept me inspired and energized.
I also found that by doing EMO every day in conjunction with the work made me a much better EMOr as well and I learned to use it on much smaller stress disturbances and blocks automatically as and when they arose.
A really good combination of form and function, and a really cool coming together of "the theory and practice of EMO" in the very literal sense of the word.
Thanks, EMO! :-)
