Let People Know You're There - The Emotions Expert Is An Energist

GoE president Silvia Hartmann writes: I know for a fact that any time any of us energists turns on the TV, we are having kittens.

There are all these programs about people in trouble and NOBODY is actually helping them with what's wrong.

Doesn't matter if it's programs on hoarding, on the 20 stone teenager, on people who have had operations go wrong or people who have been in terrible accidents and plane crashes, victims of crime, addictions and compulsions - everybody is suffering and NOBODY is helping them.

We really do need to raise public awareness of our existence, and a straightforward way to do this is to let people know that you exist, and that you are an expert on emotions.

Go to your local newspaper, TV station and radio station IN PERSON and introduce yourself to the people there.

"Hi. My name is Sandy Green and I am your local emotions expert. I am an energist, not a psychologist, because emotions are feelings and not just in the mind.

"I've just dropped in to say Hi and to let you know that any time you need an expert on emotions, I'm here, I'm local, just the other side of Ferryville."

Say this to the secretary, the research assistant/s and to as many people as you need until you get to an editor and/or presenter.

CHAT. Talk about stress, be personal, become known personally to the people there.

Ask them how you can help out, talk about Valentine's day, suicides at Christmas, violence and riots, how high emotional stress has become these days.

These people, as the ones to follow, have no idea there are energists about who can SUCCESSFULLY help people with emotions, but also EXPLAIN emotions and how they happen, which is super-important to the readers, viewers and listeners.

What you are looking for in these outings is to make a PERSONAL CONTACT with the people who work in the media, not just a single appearance or a single article.

We want to be called repeatedly and for people to get used to calling in an energist when there's something to do with emotions.

It's a long term project and a long term relationship with the media at the grass roots local level, so that the readers, listeners and viewers get to read, hear and see that we exist and everyone gets used to the idea that there are energists around who can help.

And what happens when there are three energists in the town, and they all make their way down to the various media places?

Cool! All of you say hi, and all of you talk of the same thing, and mention what your speciality is, what you like to work with best. All energists are different and have different focus in their work; some like to work with families and others with the emotional components of health issues, for example.

Media businesses have lists of local experts, we need to get ENERGISTS added to that list, and as soon as possible.

Now, on the personal level - here's a nice challenge for us to walk our talk and work our way through all the various reversals until the idea of popping down to see not "the media" but actual living human beings who work somewhere to provide news and entertainment, seems like a fun thing to do.

Don't bother making an appointment. Just find out what there is in your local area, get in the car, go there. Find someone to talk to, even if it's the janitor if the place is closed and nobody's there. Then you'll know when to come back, you've been before and it's much easier next time.

Finally, I would advise you to really look around for opportunities and people who can help getting the population used to having energists in the community.

Once again, you're not after a "one shot" talk to this group or that, but an ongoing relationship with the PEOPLE involved.

That's the best way to create a stable base for your local endeavours and get opportunities to advertise your services long term that simply don't exist if nobody knows you exist.

Think personal. Think LONG TERM. Think energist!

We need to get this energy show on the road - not least so that we can finally stop having to tap ourselves in sheer frustration every time we turn on the TV or pick up a newspaper!

The Zeitgeist is on our side. Let's do it!

With best wishes,

Silvia
