Psychopharmaca, EMO & A Truly Holistic Alliance

Psychopharmaca, EMO & A Truly Holistic Alliance

In talking therapy, there exists the idea that you can't really treat a person until they are consciously "aware," "awake," "there" or "with it" or which ever way one might want to define a drug free state; this is founded on years of experience to this end which is perfectly correct.

Energy healing however is not a talking therapy but something else altogether; and for energy healing of problems in the energy body to take place, it is in fact, irrelevant whether someone is taking psychopharmaca, psychoactive drugs, or any drugs, for that matter.

Psychopharmaca, EMO

& A Truly Holistic Alliance

Modern energy healing did not originate via medicine, herbalists, or even energy healers - modern energy healing has come about because psychologists were getting desperate to find something that would really work, and thus a sequence of events came into being which leads us to where we are today. This heritage from the psychology world has left its mark - sometimes quite invisibly, at the presupposition level - on how we work with, use and teach modern energy healing today.

However, energy healing (or healing the energy system) is not psychology, even though it might sometimes look similar, and we have a client and practitioner sitting on two chairs, looking at each other. From all the past experience, past learning and past knowing, and especially if they start to talk to each other, we might erroneously surmise that some kind of talking therapy or counselling session is taking place here - instead of energy healing, which is what even so called "energy psychology" always is, at the end of the day.

We are doing something that is inherently different, and new; and sometimes, old entrainments can trip us up and this leads to the modern energy healing approaches being used at less than their full potential - driving the thoroughbred  racing car in first gear only, if you pardon the metaphor.

One of these old entrainments revolve around whether or not it is possible to treat someone who is "under the influence," usually what is meant by that is that they are taking some kind of psychopharmaca or psychoactive drugs such as:

  • Antidepressants, which are used to treat disparate disorders such as clinical depression, dysthymia, anxiety, eating disorders and borderline personality disorder.
  • Stimulants, which are used to treat disorders such as attention deficit disorder and narcolepsy and to suppress the appetite.
  • Antipsychotics, which are used to treat psychoses, schizophrenia and mania.
  • Mood stabilizers, which are used to treat bipolar disorder and schizoaffective disorder.
  • Anxiolytics, which are used to treat anxiety disorders.
  • Depressants, which are used as hypnotics, sedatives, and anesthetics.

"Under the influence" in practice can also include people who are self medicating, taking recreational drugs, are addicted to painkillers, alcohol, or taking medication for physical illness with psychological side effects.

In talking therapy, there exists the idea that you can't really treat a person until they are consciously "aware," "awake," "there" or "with it" or which ever way one might want to define a drug free state; this is founded on years of experience to this end which is perfectly correct.

Energy healing however is, as we have noted, not a talking therapy but something else altogether; and for energy healing of problems in the energy body to take place, it is in fact, irrelevant whether someone is taking psychoactive drugs, or any drugs, for that matter.

I have likened this to open heart surgery, where the patient is clearly "under the influence" and there are all kinds of medication in their blood stream; the surgeon still operates and doesn't wait to repair the damage until the patient is drug free. In fact, the very idea of demanding that the patient undergo open heart surgery without anaesthetics is clearly, preposterous.

Likewise, for any true energy healing modality it is irrelevant what the mind/body state of the client might be. Once the problem erea has been localised, energy healing may take place without further ado and will be just as successful, regardless of whether the client is drunk, or sober.

This observation is wonderful news indeed, on many levels.

First of all, as we understand that having taken or currently taking psychoactive medication is not a barrier to healing now, we can breathe a sigh of relief, and certainly let go of the idea which is much held in older holistic circles that it is bad to take psychoactive medication, and that one shouldn't do it, and somehow get by without it.

From this follows once again the horrendous idea that a person should try and do without their medication (self administered or prescribed, it matters not) which may well be what is keeping them alive at all  and in the first place; and that only once they have managed to do that, can they expect any progress on the real cause of their problems.

I have come across this time and time again in the old "alternative" approaches and I find it simply unacceptable - that's saying to a man with broken legs he has to climb a mountain, and when he gets to the top, only then he'll be healed.

Of course, it is impossible to climb the mountain with broken legs, and so our poor man dies somewhere along the line - and thinks it was his own fault, because he didn't try hard enough, couldn't take the pain anymore, ran out of hope along the way ...

As I say, that is always unacceptable; and in the case of people who have such significant injuries in their energy system that they are in so much emotional pain that they have to start taking medication to simply make it through from day to day, it is simply cruel to tell them they are bad for taking psychoactive medication, or that they should do without.

The good news is that especially with EMO, which really does not need any talking beyond, "Where do you feel this in your body?" to localise the actual erea of the injury or disturbance, we can simply go ahead and start healing this person.

"But what about if they're too fuzzy/too off their head to soften and flow properly?"

Then you take it easy and ramp up YOUR energy healing as the practitioner from your end.

But also, ANY effort made by the person to assist the process, no matter how feeble it may be to start with, is a HUGE achievement and a turning of the great waterwheel of life in the right direction at last.

  • In Heart Healing, we say, "For sure, I am no angel - but what I have to give, I give to you."

Whatever the person has left to give, if they give that to the process of healing their own injuries in the client/practitioner dance, they are giving 100% and on the energy levels, that matters.

In fact, that's all that matters.

So the process might take a touch longer than it would otherwise, but the end result is the same - the energy system finally gets the healing intention it has cried out for, for so long; the client gets the non-judgemental attention THEY deserve at long last, and they do NOT have to change their medication first or endanger their status quo in any way.

As the energy healing takes effect and their emotions start to change - even if only noticed from far away at first! - the person can go back to their prescribing doctor and start discussing how to best reduce their dosages, safely, and always with love and protection in mind.

If they are self-medicating, there comes the time when they feel they are ready to start experimenting with their own dosages - and here we then have a truly holistic outcome, an ecological progression and movement in the right direction, one of empowerment, one where a person starts to love and appreciate themselves more, understand themselves better, and regains a little more power over their own selves, step by step.

On another level, we have another truly holistic outcome.

Unlike the old "alternative" healing approaches, I don't consider doctors or even pharmacists to be "the enemy".

If we really want to help people live better lives, we all need to work together FOR THE BEST OF THE PATIENT or client.

With energy healing, we can conduct the healing at the level the allopathic healers cannot reach and help unfold the healing process properly - by making sure a man can walk unaided BEFORE we take his crutches away, which served an important and often, life serving purpose.

And in the meantime, from our end, we need to continue to make every effort to let people know that we really do have a new approach to dealing with powerful, overwhelming emotions and emotional pain.

Getting to people before they start on their psychoactive medication is obviously the best solution in a perfect world - but as it stands, let's stop making people feel bad about medicating themselves, and offer unconditional, pure energy healing to help them evolve beyond the pain and problems that they find themselves in.
