There are some artists among us who don't not sell art because nobody wants to buy it, but because they don't want to or cannot "let go of their art." I am one of them - but I think today I have found the solution on how the let a work of art go to another person, on its own journey, as it were.
Amongst my people, it is the custom to give a symbolic snail when people move into a new home. It is a sign of good luck and a happy home, being safe and secure in your home. Traditionally, a hand made house warming snail is preferred; there are many ways to do this, including something as simple as painting a spiral (the symbol of the snail and vice versa) on a flower pot. Here is my housewarming snail, hand shaped from aluminium and mounted on Baltic amber, given to Stephen Kent for his first home on October 4th, 2014.
